Ep. 1: Cheapest, Easiest, and Fastest Way to Lower a Peterbilt

If you don’t like sucking in thin air or are afraid of heights, this is a pretty easy cheap way to get you closer to the ground.

Parts List:

  • U-Bolts: AUBK8354-072 (Automann)
  • Shims: 43-1067B (Stemph Automotive)

Procedure is easier said than done, but if you have the tools and experience, it’s not a hard job.

  • Lift truck by frame
  • Remove tires
  • Support axle beam
  • Cut and remove u-bolts
  • Remove lift block
  • Torch out centering dowel in axle beam
  • Loosely install u-bolts with oil on threads
  • Slide shim in with fat end on the rear side of the axle
  • Tighten down u-bolts evenly while making sure spring pin center bolt is engaged in hole in axle beam
  • Torque nuts to 300 lb-ft
  • Retorque after 2-3 days of driving or if movement is seen or felt
  • Enjoy the new stance
